STS and Urban Ed form New Apprenticeship Partnership to Discover, Mentor and Train DC’s Underserved IT Talent

Simple Technology Solutions, Inc. (STS) and Urban Ed, Inc. have teamed up to provide extensive IT training and apprenticeship opportunities to underserved DC residents. Both teams are joining forces to discover IT talent and potential candidates that may have been overlooked or effectively blocked from entering DC’s robust IT marketplace. The long-term partnership will expand career pathways, build the local pool of qualified and diverse IT talent, and onboard a broader array of  District residents into high-demand technology careers.

Launched in October 2019, the STS-Urban Ed Partnership provides mentorship, curriculum, training and employment opportunities for careers in cloud engineering, DevSecOps engineering and agile software development

Mobilized by a critical need for homegrown tech talent, the STS Apprenticeship Program has been empowering and inspiring District residents to gain marketable IT skills. In parallel, UrbanEd has had exceptional success growing technical talent from the ranks of marginalized candidates across the District. Together, the Urban Ed-STS team will work together to discover, recruit, train, mentor and employ the “hidden gems” in our Nation’s capital

“Our success is measured by our mission: to identify client needs, apply cutting-edge IT solutions and provide apprenticeship opportunities for motivated individuals to meet and exceed the demands of the industry. We’ve created a symbiotic relationship between our customers, our business, and our team. By providing technically superior solutions for our customers, we are able to build our business and establish mentorship programs to develop a skilled workforce. Our continued growth is a reflection of our team, their talent and willingness to learn, adapt and succeed, ” says Adrian Rich, Managing Principal for STS.

“I believe community and corporate partnerships are an essential ingredient to building successful apprenticeships. For Urban Ed, having STS as a forward-thinking partner will not only help build a pipeline of diverse IT talent, but will also give members of our community the career stability they need to sustain their families,” says Roxanne J. Williams, President at Urban Ed, Inc.

Stay tuned! STS and UrbanEd will provide regular program updates and “Apprenticeship Spotlights” showcasing our success stories.
